Stargazing—Humans and the sky

On Saturday, Aug. 2, at 7 p.m., Mike Atkinson will help us explore the history of the science of astronomy, from antiquity through the current time, from an amateur astronomer’s perspective.

The evening will begin with an indoor presentation and, if conditions are good, the group will head outdoors and turn our telescopes and binoculars to the sky and look at stars, star clusters, gas clouds (nebulae) and galaxies. This presentation will be held at the Recreation Department and is free and open to all.
