Introducing The Summer Unplugged Series

The best-kept secret in Waterville Valley? It’s not the powder stashes on Preston’s Path or the Bloody Marys at the Schwendi Hütte—it’s summer. Golden days stretch long and full of possibility. Summer means slow, joyful living that leaves a mark on your memory and returns with every warm breeze and the scent of toasted pine needles.

They say winter built up this town, but summer is its soul. And we think it’s time that secret got out. The Waterville Valley Resort Association—a collective of local businesses dedicated to celebrating and strengthening this community—is on a mission to bring new energy, vibrancy, and fun to the season we’ve quietly loved all along.

From June 26 to September 6, this event series brings a little extra sparkle to summer in the Valley.

Here’s what we’ve got in store for you:

  • Woodland Fairy House Building Thursdays, 10AM–12PM | $5 or Free with Freedom Pass The Rey Center Community Garden

  • Tie-Dye by the Pond Thursdays, 1–3PM | $15 or Free with Freedom Pass Location TBD

  • Cornhole Tournament Fridays, 3PM | $5 or Free with Freedom Pass Compete for a $50 local gift card and ultimate bragging rights. Location TBD

Thanks to the generosity of our member businesses, some of these events are free for all to enjoy. More intricate, hands-on activities—like tie-dye, the cornhole tournament, and fairy house building—are free for lodging guests through the Freedom Pass. Locals and other visitors are warmly invited to join with a small participation fee, payable via PayPal, Venmo, or Eventbrite. Every dollar is reinvested back into the community through the shared mission of the Waterville Valley Resort Association.

Summer Unplugged is more than an event series. It’s a love letter to this valley. It’s the business community’s collective effort to make Waterville Valley feel like much more than a destination, but a true year-round community—one that comes alive in every season. A vibrant oasis where everyone feels welcome, whether you’re here for a vacation or a lifetime.

The world may know Waterville for its skiing. But those who linger past the thaw know the truth: this place sings in the summertime. We want to make that song louder —by turning our best-kept secret into our proudest tradition.

And if you’d like to be part of it—not just as a participant, but as a maker of the magic—we’d love your help. Whether it’s setting up fairy house supplies, guiding kids through tie-dye, or keeping the bonfire glowing, there’s a place for you here. Come lend a hand, and let the Valley surprise you.
