Shop
One of the newest additions to the Valley is The Clever Critter—your one-stop shop for all your pet’s needs! Located in Town Square, Clever Critter offers a wide selection of toys, treats, and everything else to keep your furry friend happy and healthy. The Clever Critter is more than just a pet store. It also features a self-serve dog wash station, perfect for cleaning up after a splash in Corcoran Pond or a muddy adventure on a nearby trail. It's an extremely convenient way to keep your pup fresh and happy after a day of outdoor fun.
Visiting Town Square with your dog? Don’t miss the Dog Stick Library right outside Clever Critter where your pup can take a stick for playtime! Just be sure to return a stick if you take one! While you're in Town Square, be sure to stop by the other businesses, as some keep dog treats at the register, so you can grab a little surprise for your dog when they have to wait outside. It’s one of the many ways all your four-legged friends feel welcome!
Activities
Footbridge on Mad River Path
Waterville Valley has countless miles of trails and hikes that welcome dogs throughout the summer and fall months, with many also allowing foot and paw traffic year-round. With a wide variety of difficulty and distance across the Waterville Valley trail system, all pets are counted for. Here is a breakdown of some go-to pet friendly routes:
Village Trail, located behind Town Square adjacent to Corcoran Pond Beach, is open to pedestrians and leashed dogs year-round. While this is a shorter trail, it brings the same charm and serenity as any trail in the Valley. The Village Trail winds alongside Snow’s Brook, with a tunnel leading you to other trails in the Waterville Valley trail system.
For those wanting to extend the adventure, we recommend continuing onto the Mad River Path—a 2-mile loop with minimal elevation gain and stunning river views. Let your dog cool off with a splash in the water or simply enjoy the tranquil atmosphere, complete with birdsong, fluttering butterflies, and the soothing sounds of running water. It’s the perfect summertime stroll with your dog by your side. Both the Village Trail and Mad River Path are great adventures year-round!

After a fun-filled day of exploring with your pup, cap off the evening in Town Square. Bring your chairs, snacks, and drinks, and settle in front of the Town Square gazebo, where live music fills the air on select evenings. It’s a great way to unwind and enjoy the community vibe—with your dog right by your side. Be sure to check the Event Calendar to see when performances are scheduled. And don’t forget, Waterville Valley is an open container town, so feel free to grab your favorite beverages from Jugtown Country Store. While you’re there, pick up a treat for your dog at the register!
With dog-friendly businesses, amenities and endless outdoor adventure, Waterville Valley is the perfect destination for making unforgettable memories with the whole family, dogs included! We can’t wait to see you and your pup in the Valley!
