On April 8th, the skies above Waterville Valley will darken for a once-in-a-lifetime celestial event.

The North American Solar Eclipse will pass over Waterville Valley with 95%+ coverage. While the eclipse will only last 3 minutes and 15 seconds, the memories you make during this ethereal natural phenomenon will last a lifetime.

• Eclipse glasses are NOT regular sunglasses; regular sunglasses, no matter how dark, are not safe for viewing the Sun. Safe solar viewers are thousands of times darker and ought to comply with the ISO 12312-2 international standard. NASA does not approve any particular brand of solar viewers.

Mountains surround Waterville in every direction, and there are a plethora of mountain peaks that offer stunning views of the Valley and beyond. Please be aware, in early April there will most likely still be snow and ice along hiking trails. So if you’re planning on hiking to a mountain-top summit, please ensure you’re following the winter hiking guidelines.
