The Neil Roche ‘Back In The Game’

August 5th will be here before we know it so partner up and let’s have some fun during the 18th Annual Back in the Game Mixed Doubles Tournament sponsored by Roper Reality. “It is going to be a fabulous weekend of tennis, so I hope many tennis players come out and participate, stated Patty Garvey, Neil’s daughter and committee member. Patty went on to say, “my dad would be very happy to see it continuing for 18 years.”

This years Neil could be one of the best ever! The T-shirts and prizes are ordered, the players have been practicing, and it’s looking like we’ll have lots of new athletes and teams. It will once again be a fun-filled weekend with plenty of tennis, and look for the Foster Clan to be in full attendance. “All the kids plan on participating this year,” said Jean Foster, “even Mac will be pulling out his Rossignol F300 for the first round!”

On Friday evening, August 4th you will usually run into a few players at the Coyote Grill which could very well include Chip and Terry Roper, proud participants, former champions and Roper Real Estate sponsors of the ‘Back in the Game’ tournament. Said Terry, “We are always very happy to support the Back in the Game tennis weekend! Tennis has always been an important part of our family and it is such a fun weekend, we would never want to miss it!”

On Saturday, the tennis begins at 9am. We will once again use the compass draw format, so win or lose; you will keep playing until you don’t want to play anymore. In the main draw, the winners keep moving out toward the finals, while those who do not win in whatever round enter a new tournament. Usually when Sunday rolls around, players in the more distant draws will opt out

We’ll run the semi-finals and finals on Sunday morning beginning at 9am for the main draw and the main consolation draw. The finals from the main draw and the consolation will be at 1pm.

This is the premiere tennis tournament of the year and is always loads of fun, and as Rene Schwartz says, “ sign up today, enjoy the weekend and if you do not have a partner we’ll find you one! It’s time to get back in the game!”

For tennis tournament registration please swing by the tennis center to fill out an application or give us a call. Also check out our daily round robins beginning at 9:30am.

As you know the deck is the absolute best setting in Waterville Valley and was ranked #5 in the tennis world this spring according to Roger Cox, Tennis Magazine Travel Editor for decades, and the founder of Tennis Resorts Online. So come on down, play some tennis and then relax with a beverage on the deck.
