On Saturday November 25th Captain Tom Turkey will once again lead his Fearless Fowl Feathered Friends as they Plunge into the frigid waters of Corcoran Pond in beautiful Waterville Valley to raise funds to support Waterville Valley Adaptive Sports Programs for children and adults with cognitive and physical disabilities. The Plunge has raised in excess of $115,000 to date all of which went directly to the operation of the volunteer –based Adaptive Program. Among other things the funds were used to purchase specialized adaptive athletic equipment, host disabled veterans and their families for weekends of winter sports, allow families with autistic children the opportunity to enjoy a weekend of respite in the beautiful White Mountains and provide ski & snowboard lessons and equipment for over 1,000 athletes with various special challenges.
All Plungers are asked to raise a minimum of $50 in donations. They will be rewarded with an official Plunge Shirt, a gourmet cold turkey sandwich courtesy of Chef Sean Stout of the Coyote Grill, a WVAS “Empowered Bracelet”, a free hour of tubing at the WV Tubing Center and a Plunge Goodie Bag. Additional Premium Incentives will be rewarded for reaching fund raising benchmarks. And, prizes will be presented to individuals and teams in a variety of categories including Best Costume (costumes are optional but encouraged, particularly Pirate Costumes).
Once again Captain Tom will be hosting the VIP (Very Important Plunger) Tent. VIP’s are asked to make an individual donation oft $250 or more. In thanks for their generosity they will receive a Plunge Shirt, have a premium viewing spot in the VIP Tent sponsored by Amoskeag Beverages and be treated to hot beverages (Irish Coffee included). The best part, THEY DON’T HAVE TO GO IN THE WATER!
The beach will be rocking with our annual Polar Pool Party! The Hot Tub will be on the beach for post-plunge relaxation. We will sacrifice a WV Snow Maker to the Tecumsehrina the Snow Goddess of the pond to insure a great ski season.
The Town Square will be decorated and the local inns and merchants will be offering all sorts of Holiday Specials. Ski Waterville Valley in the morning. Join us for the Plunge at !:00. Then linger in the square to greet Santa when he arrives by dog sled at 3:00 and stay for the Holiday Fireworks in the evening.
There is no better way to kick off the holiday Season. And it is for a great cause. See you there!
