Hiking
Hiking in and around Waterville Valley is like few things you've ever experienced. There are seven 4,000-foot peaks that form a near-perfect bowl around Waterville Valley, almost like sentries standing guard over the 770,000-acre White Mountain National Forest. Within that bowl you'll find over 100 miles of well-marked trails for every level of stamina and sense of exploration. A list of suggested hikes is available at www.waterville.com/info/summer/hikelist.asp complete with difficulty ratings and length.

Wildlife
With so much wilderness surrounding Waterville Valley, there are incredible wildlife viewing opportunities. See a mighty bull or cow moose casually munching on vegetation in a pond. Watch eagles and hawks play on the warm updrafts that rise from the valley floor. Deer. Black Bears. Fox. Coyotes. Over 200 different birds have been observed in Waterville Valley. Or just sit with your eyes closed and listen to a squirrel foraging a few feet from you.

Swimming
In the Valley, you're never far from water. From indoor or outdoor pools at your lodging property, to the indoor and outdoor pools at the White Mountain Athletic Club. There's Corcoran's Pond, just a few steps from Town Square and a short walk from your lodging property. You can dive in, or just sit on the sandy beach and watch the kids play. And when you're hungry or thirsty, snacks and drinks are just seconds away in Town Square.

The other swimming options in and around Waterville Valley are slightly less publicized, though no less spectacular. They aren't on any tourist map. Just ask one of our notoriously friendly locals.
