Two Alpine Championship Series
WATERVILLE VALLEY, NH— Waterville Valley will soon become the focus of the alpine ski world. Waterville Valley Black & Blue Trail Smashers Ski Educational Foundation (WVBBTS) will play host to two championship alpine events this month at Waterville Valley Ski Area- NorAm Cup Finals and J4 Future Stars. USSA, the national governing body for skiing and snowboarding, selected BBTS to host these events at the Waterville Valley Ski Area in March.
The NorAm Cup Finals host the top 160 men and women alpine racers from the US and Canadian National Teams who are competing just below the World Cup level, along with top qualifying international racers, as they compete for a World Cup start in slalom and giant slalom. The competition is set to take place March 16-18. For fans, there will be a meet and greet and autograph session with members of the US and Canadian Ski teams from 3:30 pm – 5:30 on Wednesday, Marcy 17 at the Coyote Grill (above the White Mountain Athletic Club) in Waterville Valley.
The second widespread championship series at Waterville Valley for 2010 is the J4 Future Stars. Scheduled for March 21-23, J4 Future Stars is the Junior Olympics invitational event for the highest ranked 166 eleven and twelve-year-old alpine racers from up and down the east coast.

Peter Stokloza, WVBBTS CEO and Executive Director, shared, “I am so proud that the US Ski and Snowboard Association selected WVBBTS to host these high level events in Waterville Valley. It is a real tribute to the Town of Waterville Valley, the Waterville Valley Ski Area and the staff and volunteer base at WVBBTS to have these events here.”
We are in need of volunteers to assure the success of the above championship events-primarily gatekeepers (approximately 8 am -3 pm) and course workers (approximately 7 am - 3 pm). We are also in need of volunteers to fill some USSA licensed on hill positions for Future Stars. Please e-mail Carl Anderson at canderson@wvbbts.org if you can help us out in any of these positions.
